Saint Nicholas Day

St Nicholas Day – Thursday 5thDecember 2024

Our popular event day aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils, celebrating the importance of giving as well as receiving at Christmas. The story of our modern day ‘Santa’ goes back to the fourth century and a bishop called St Nicholas (who is now a Christian Saint). It is from stories of St Nicholas,  that we get the idea of putting out stockings for Christmas presents.

What happens on the day?

Pupils will take part in three workshops during the day, learning about where some of our Christmas traditions come from.

They will make gifts in each workshop - some to keep and some to give away.

The day will finish with a final celebration service, which is held in the Abbey church.

£4.90 per pupil.

Suitable for Key Stage 2
