Bank Holiday Organ Recital: Alexander Ffinch

Demonstrating how the organ has often lent itself to giving vivid accounts of orchestral music, Alexander Ffinch’s programme includes the movement Jupiter from Holst’s much-loved suite The Planets. Complementing this is a contemporary work, The Dancing Pipes, by acclaimed opera composer Jonathan Dove, a musical tableau that takes the narrative of the martyrdom of St Laurence in the third century as its principal inspiration.
