Grand-Orgue Recital: Ben Bloor

Saturday 6th September, 19:30

Ben Bloor, is the prizewinning Organist at the London Oratory Church and is a rising star of his generation. As this recital takes place close to the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, his programme is inspired by plainsong-based Marian music of the twentieth century, including the virtuosic Toccata, fugue et hymne sur ‘Ave Maris Stella’ by Flor Peeters and an exquisite Postlude for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception from Tournemire’s L’Orgue mystique. The recital concludes with the Symphonie Mariale based on Marian themes by the little-known priest-composer Auguste Fauchard, a pupil of Louis Vierne.
