School visits to the Abbey return this year

Buckfast Abbey’s Education Department is pleased to be welcoming schools back to its grounds this year with a varied and informative education programme suitable for those aged from 4 to 18 years old.

Covering subjects from art and history, to RE and personal development topics, Buckfast Abbey is inviting schools to explore its menu of trails, workshops, and activities in its hands-on learning centre. Some groups will also have the opportunity to attend a Q&A session with one of our monks.

A key date for schools’ academic diaries this year is the Abbey’s popular Easter programme, which is available to primary school pupils from Thursday 14th March until Thursday 14th April. Divided into two programmes: Threads of Easter (for ages 7-11), and Donkey’s Tale (for ages under 7), the new projects will explore the story of Easter with age-appropriate souvenirs for pupils to take home.

For those concerned about indoor mixing and close contact with others, Buckfast Abbey is pleased to be offering a brand-new Easter Egg Hunt activity for 2022. Featuring giant eggs which contain instructions for new activities, the Easter Egg Hunt will explore concepts from the Easter story such as forgiveness, love, and bravery.
