Liber Cantualis: Latin Songs of the Ordinary of the Mass, with other pieces for various occasions

Liber Cantualis: Latin Songs of the Ordinary of the Mass, with other pieces for various occasions.

The Second Vatican Council, in the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, called for the continuation of editions of Gregorian chant books. In No. 117, he even stated: It is also appropriate to provide an edition containing simple melodies for the use of small churches. This is the origin of this small book of 122 pages published in 1995.

Only in Latin and Gregorian notation, it first includes the most usual songs of the Mass, with four hallelujah formulas. A second part presents the songs of sprinkling at Sunday mass, seven ordinaries of easy-to-sing masses, (kyrie, gloria, sanctus, agnus), two Creeds; Mass for the deceased and farewell songs; the four most famous sequences. A third part includes various songs in honour of the Blessed Sacrament and the Virgin Mary, pieces of the Temporal; gospel hymns and some psalms; as well as the entire Office of Compline.

Since the Second Vatican Council, in many countries, parish choirs have resumed the use of certain pieces in Latin and Gregorian. This book, inexpensive and easy to use, can be of great help to them.
