The Coronation of the Virgin is one of the themes of Christian iconography consisting of representing the Virgin Mary , crowned in the heavens. The theme is present from the Middle Ages, but is not the subject of a dogma recognized by the Church. In the Gregorian calendar, it is celebrated on22 august, eight days after the feast of the Assumption.
