Various Dates from March to June

We are running 3 separate beginners courses this year and we will be limiting each one to 10 students per group. They will be jointly tutored by Martin and Clare and so during the “hands on” sessions each group can be split into two groups of five which will give each student ample opportunity for actually handling the bees. There will be plenty of theory during the course and this will be supported by copious handouts.

Start time 10am, finish time 12pm

Group B Thursdays –
March 19th and 26th
April 9th and 23rd
May 7th and 21st
June 4th and 18th

During March the sessions will be mainly theory with some practical tasks such as frame making and learning to light the smoker at the bee barn.
During April we should be able to do some outdoor sessions up at the apiary learning to open the hive and handle the bees. These might finish a bit later.
During May we will learn about swarming (theory and practical)
June will include more seasonal management backed up with more practical experience.

All practical sessions will be weather dependent (we can’t open hives in the rain).
