Holy Week 2022: Vocations discernment retreat

Holy Week 2022: Vocations discernment retreat with the Monastic Community of Buckfast Abbey.

The Monastic Community of Buckfast is offering to share(free of charge) its spiritual journey through Holy Week with twelve men who are discerning their vocation to the priesthood or religious life.

Arriving on the eve of Palm Sunday (Saturday 9th April), and departing on Easter Sunday (17th April), the guided retreat is an opportunity to immerse oneself, and participate in, the sacred drama and ritual of the greatest and holiest week of our liturgical year.

Residing in the monastery alongside the Monastic Community, the twelve discerning men can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our beautiful surroundings, allowing time and space for personal prayer and reflection. The twelve will hear testimonials from our monks and others of their faith journey, take part in group discussions, as well as guided talks by retreat preacher Fr Andrew Robinson Oscott Seminary.

Christ chose twelve men to be his disciples to the world. Are you willing to give yourself to Our Lord in this unique, potentially life changing opportunity?

The retreat will include:

Participation in Mass and the Office of Holy Week
A room in the Monastery guest house, eating with the Monastic Community.
A daily extended homily by Fr Andrew Robinson (Oscott Seminary)
Group discernment discussions
Use of the monastery grounds and gardens for private walks and reflection

To make a general enquiry, please contact vocationsretreat@buckfast.org.uk

Please note that applications for the retreat will be treated on a first-come first-served basis, and limited to 12 individuals. The Monastery Guest House will be closed to regular retreats during this period.
