A self-supporting, single post holder, responsible for the provision of clear, consistent and quality Health & Safety support and operational activities at all levels of our organisation; thereby ensuring a safe working environment for colleagues, safe visitor experience for our visitors and guests to the site and safe environment for our monastic community.A practical and professional advisory service embracing all areas of Health & Safety management including risk assessment, workplace inspections/audits, investigation, recording and reporting, training and site security.As important as your knowledge and experience will be your style. Our organisation is diverse and complex so a flexible, creative, collaborative, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to educate, influence and challenge respectfully, will be essential. Working as a trusted advisor to our management and leadership teams, you will be positive, communicative, reactive and proactive, visible, dependable, resilient and a role model for ‘what good looks like’.
If you:
Are as a minimum IOSH and NEBOSH general certificate qualified
Have at least 3 years’ post qualification experience, preferably from a complex and diverse organisation
Have sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and associated legislation relevant to Buckfast Abbey
Can evidence taking the lead in developing and maintaining Health & Safety process, procedure and systems
Can evidence promoting a positive Health & Safety culture
Can establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels and across different disciplines
Have the ability to manage technical consultants and subcontractors and our site security contractor
Have good IT skills that include expertise in Excel, Powerpoint and databases
Have integrity that aligns to our values and an empathy with the Catholic ethos of our site
Have a valid driving licence and flexibility to occasionally travel to Staffordshire to provide Health &
Safety advice to another area of the Buckfast Group that includes a care home
