An evening of majestic music written for royal occasions. At the heart of the concert are Handel’s magnificent Coronation Anthems, including the ever-popular Zadok the Priest,
which has been performed at every British coronation since 1727. The programme also includes music by Purcell, Harris, Howells, Walton and Mealor, as well as local composer Graham Keitch, whose In Memoriam Ricardus Rex was composed after the discovery of Richard III’s body in 2013 and performed several times as part of the proceedings for the king’s reinterment.
