Inspirational Lives Day

Saturday 19th October 2019

Our Guests are:
Friend of Buckfast Abbey Bookshop, Humanitarian Terry Waite, CBE who is returning to Buckfast to discuss his life, which includes his being taken hostage in Beirut for nearly five years.
Julian Hight, travelled the British Isles and 39 other countries photographing ancient trees and recording their history and legend. His second book, Britain’s Ancient Forest: Legacy and Lore, is having its book launch the day before he speaks at our Inspirational Lives day
Tracey Elliot-Reep is a photographer, author and adventuress who lives on Dartmoor. She travels alone on horseback to far flung corners of
the world

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Benjamin Mee regrets that he will not be able to speak at Buckfast Abbey’s Inspirational Lives event.
Julian Hight has very kindly agreed to be his replacement. Julian travelled the British Isles and 39 other countries photographing ancient trees and recording their history and legend. His second book, Britain’s Ancient Forest: Legacy and Lore, is having its book launch the day before he speaks at our Inspirational Lives day, so is hot off the presses! Julian also campaigns to save threatened trees and ancient woodland and is an active member of the Woodland Trust. He was also a judge on Channel 4’s Tree of the Year.

All authors will also be discussing their charity work, which will be a varied mix. The authors’ books will be available to be bought on the day, which will include Book-Signing Sessions.
The day will be from 10am to 5:00pm, with an extra half an hour added for extra book signing time if necessary.
Tickets are £20 each and include teas, coffees and biscuits.
The event will be held in Higher Mill in the grounds of Buckfast Abbey and there is disabled access within the venue. There is also free car parking at the event.
